- GAMBLING POLICY for NFL Personnel 2018 The NFL is strongly committed to maintaining the integrity of the NFL, its games, Clubs, players, coaches, and other League and Club personnel. Although Shaw had not played this year due to injury, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended him through the 2020 season. Since that time, a memo has been leaked to ESPN and reveals that the league warned all players, coaches, and team personnel that any betting on anything related to the NFL will not be tolerated. The memo reads in part:
The NRL is an active participant in policy discussions in supporting responsible gambling programs, strong Codes of Conduct for sports and uniform anti-corruption legislation in Australia.
“All NFL Personnel are prohibited from placing, soliciting, or facilitating any bet, whether directly or indirectly through a third-party, on any NFL game, practice or other event,” league policy states. “This includes betting on game outcome, statistics, score, performance of any individual participant, or any other kind of ‘proposition bet’ on which wagering is offered.”
